My name is April De Higes, and I am a psychotherapist and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have been working as a therapist for 15 years. My education, professional training, and life experience are assets that I am proud of. Wanting to gain different experiences, I have worked in several settings including schools, outpatient clinics for adults, children, and families, residential programs for teenagers, foster care, mental health insurance authorizing treatment as well as supervising other therapists.
Dealing with my own life struggles has helped me have compassion for the people that I work with in therapy. Everyone goes through life transitions, but it is learning coping skills to help you get through difficult times that will ensure that you are successful in life. Life is a journey that is constantly changing. Change can be difficult. Let me help you get through the difficult times as well as encourage you during the happy times.
Finding a therapist that you feel comfortable with can be a challenge. Studies show that the therapeutic relationship is important in regards to a successful outcome. I want to make sure that the people that I work with are comfortable with me as a therapist, so I offer a free consultation either by phone or in person.
